100% Chinchilla safe. These are pillowcase style meaning they slide around the plastic shelf completely with no fasteners and no Velcro. What does pillow case style look like? The plastic shelf slides in the cover like a pillow! Then on the underside, an overlap has been sewn to keep the plastic and critters out!

Standard shelves in Critter Nation cages are plastic and not safe for chinchillas. Covering them with anti pill fleece make them much safer for chinchillas!
